Celebrities can’t wait for the couple’s secret after-Oscars shindig.
Every year Vanity Fair outdoes themselves, hosting one of the most talked about after-Oscars events. However, the real shindig that celebrities seem to look forward to is the super-exclusive post-awards get-together hosted by Beyoncé and Jay Z. After last year’s Oscar show, the superstar couple took over Sunset Blvd’s famous Chateau Marmont hotel’s parking garage for their “Gold Party” which boasted a guest list that included the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio, Drake, Michael B. Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Mindy Kaling, Tracee Ellis Ross, and Stevie Wonder. Madonna has been hosting her after-show parties for over a decade, and similar to Bey and Jay, the event has no sponsors, no press, and is made for celebs who want to kick back without the pressures of being seen.
For many artists in the film industry, Bey and Jay’s Oscar party is also about celebrating the phenomenal, inclusive work created by people of color. “It’s not just for the sake of diversity,” said Oscar-winning filmmaker Barry Jenkins. “It’s about people making dope work. Black Panther made a bajillion dollars and it’s got to be celebrated.” Jenkins said he’ll be at the Knowles-Carter’s party “with whistles and bells on” and “my whole life is just to touch the hem of Beyoncé’s garment. Beyoncé, invite me to a potluck — anything.” We feel you, Barry.
